Project Description

Lincoln Ventures Ltd (formerly Agricultural Engineering Institute) has long history of frost protection research, and continues to respond to growers needs by providing independent, up-to-date information and research on the effectiveness of frost protection methods. Projects include numerous industry-specific trials and publicly-funded or multi-industry trials.  Those with publicly-available data and reports are:

  1. Hawkes Bay Sprinkler Trial - a current multi-year trial investigating the effectiveness of different sprinkler configurations
  2. Sprinkler Frost protection - a series of Central Otago and Lincoln trials and reports from the mid 1980s covering under-tree, overhead, targeted and pulsed application of water for frost protection
  3. Wind machines - an early 1980s study on the applicability of wind machines to NZ conditions, and results from a Hawkes Bay trial
